How would you reply? I selected the ruby gemstone because it symbolizes beauty. I think beauty is very strong for a type of rock to symbolize, however its elegant color and bright red can mean many things to people which is why I selected it. This gemstone is used in everyday life mainly through ring toppers. For example, a wedding ring, or something of value resembling jewelry. Many people use rubies for their jewelry symbolizing wealth, or love. Rubies are created through extreme heat and under intense pressure under the earth. It takes about 20-30 million years for rubies to form. When compressed, oxygen and aluminum atoms turn into corundum. This mineral, along with the presence of chromium, creates rubies and their distinct hue. If ferric iron is also present, the ruby will be a shade of orange or pink.
