Situation
Summarize medical emergency provided by instructor: define the
emergency, frequency of occurrence in dental office setting, what
medications should or should not be used (as applicable) in the medical
emergency.
3. Physiological Changes What type of physiological changes will occur to the patient who is
experiencing this medical emergency? (Ex: pale raise the tail / red raise
the head, BP changes, pulse, sweating, etc…) At least 3 changes are
required for full credit.
4. Management of
Medical Emergency
(R.E.P.A.I.R.)
Describe in detail the R.E.P.A.I.R. protocol for patient management for
this particular medical emergency situation. All sections of R.E.P.A.I.R.
must be discussed.
5. Scenario Description Describe the roles of the different providers that would be involved in the
medical emergency in a dental office (P1, P2, P3, OR – see page 5, Table
1.2) and what their specific responsibilities would be.
6. Closing/Summary Summarize the entire paper in a short paragraph (3-5 sentences)
7. Reference Page  Paper MUST include references from your book with correct in-text
citations to avoid plagiarism.
 At least 1 credible outside reference (ex: JADA, Dimensions of
Dental Hygiene, any peer-reviewed journal).
 References need to be cited in correct APA format and a copy of the
publication attached to the paper for instructor review. (If APA not
correct & a copy not submitted with paper, grade deduction will
occur – see rubric)
